Power reforms are burden on Consumers
Formation of a non-existent discom named Andhra Pradesh Rural Agriculture Power Limited (APRAPL) be cancelled demanded V.Srinivasa Rao, CPI(M) AP Committee Secretary. He appealed to the people to thwart the state government's attempt to benefit from the solar power deal between Adani, SECI and the discoms, as well as to make it a laboratory for new-style private discoms. He spoke to reporters at the Balotsava Bhavan in Vijayawada along with party central committee member D Ramadevi and state secretariat member CH Baburao on Sunday. He expressed concern that the TDP coalition government is trying to further strengthen the Adani, SECI and DISCOM agreement, in the YSRCP government with bribes of Rs. 1750 crore. He said that the white paper released by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu as soon as the coalition government came to power stated that the people will have to bear Rs. 3805 crore per year and Rs. 1.25 lakh crore in the next five years due to SECI agriment. He said that the case filed in the High Court by Finance Minister Payyavula Keshav while he was in the opposition to cancel this agreement is still pending. He said that now that case is being ignored. Will the agreement that caused losses in the opposition be profitable once it comes to power? He ridiculed. He demanded that this disastrous agreement be canceled. He explained that in the future, free electricity for agriculture and rural sectors in the name of a special DISCOM, along with canceling cross-subsidies and giving concessions to big industrialists, is an additional burden on urban consumers. He said that this whole mess is being run to privatize electricity distribution. He said that the central government is trying to weaken the public sector by bringing private discoms across the country in the name of RDSS, but the people, electricity employees, workers and engineers are obstructing it with their agitations He explained that this is why the TDP coalition government has brought forward the APRAPL DISCOM as a pilot project for private discoms. He said that the state government has given green signal to the establishment of deemed discoms in the name of captive discoms for data centers. He said that the experts' doubts that the state government has brought forward the APRAPL as a protective shield for Google deemed discoms are true. He said that both the YSRCP government and the TDP coalition government are immersed in corporate services like Adani, Ambani, Google and Meta under the watchful eyes of the BJP government at the center.
APERC has issued a public notice inviting views and objections on the application for the grant of deemed discom license to APRAPL by 22nd of this month. It was stated that only 300 MW or 4.5 percent of the 7000 MW purchase agreement through SECI is now available. It was stated that APRAPL does not have its own distribution system or a single distribution transformer. It was stated in the application that all the work like power supply and sanction of new pump set connections will be done by the existing three discoms. It was stated that although the transactions between these discoms and APRAPL are book adjustments, they are not at a lavel playing field. It was explained that they are causing loss to the existing discoms. It was stated that the burden will be on the consumers as true up FAPPC or another name. He criticized this deemed discom, which is only on paper, as a lie and a fraud. He said that it is known that during the YSRCP government, a case of thousands of crores of rupees bribes had reached the courts in the US. He criticized that it is shameful that the TDP government is now trying to provide full benefits to this fraudulent agreement. He urged the people to expose the conspiracies of the then YSRCP and today's TDP coalition governments to loot electricity consumers to serve the corporate interests. He appealed to move the case pending in the High Court and resolve it immediately.
Srinivasa Rao said that the inefficiency of the previous government would continue in this government as well. He said that the central and state governments were trying to impose burdens on the people and demanded that this be withdrawn.
Pavan should gain control over his department. Deputy Chief Minister Pavan Kalyan, who said he would take over if he were the Home Minister, suggested that he first gain control over his departments. He expressed concern that tons of fish had died in the sea rear Rajayyapet due to HETRO drug pollution. He asked Pavan what he as the Environment Minister to stop this HETRO drug. He said that everyone is saying that the climate will get warmer due to Adani's Google data center in Visakhapatnam. He asked what he was doing as the Environment Minister if the Google data center rejected by the American people was approved to be set up in Visakhapatnam. Srinivasa Rao asked if he had the guts to take on the corporates. He said that he did not have the guts to do anything to corporates that are looting the state. He asked what he was doing with such a crucial department. He questioned whether he was sleeping as the Forest Minister while Adani Company was illegally conducting surveys in agencies in the name of pumped storage and destroying forests. He said that Adani Company should not take over the department, which is conducting surveys in agencies. They said that it would remove dollies, it has not been implemented so far, and there are no feeder ambulances either in the tribal areas. They demanded that you do good to the people through the work in your departments and remove the corporates' umbrella.
CH Baburao said that the YSRCP government has imposed a burden of Rs. 32,000 crores on the people and the coalition government came to power promising to control and reduce electricity charges. He criticized that the coalition leaders, including the Chief Minister, are lying about reducing the charges by 13 paise per unit. He said that in two years, they are collecting from the people from 80 paise to Rs. 1.40 per unit in the name of adjustment and true-up. He criticized that saying that 13 paise has been reduced from Rs. 1.40 is cheating the people by making them believe. He said that Chandrababu and Pavan Kalyan said that they would expose the corruption of the YSRCP. He said that it was proved in the US court with evidence that the YSRCP government leaders took bribes and made a secret agreement. He questioned why the coalition government, which is investigating sand and liquor, is not investigating on this agreement. He questioned why they are protecting this corruption that is burdening the people. He said that Modi and BJP are spreading Adani's corruption worldwide and this burden is more on the state. He criticized that in the past, the YSRCP and now the TDP alliance are all on the same page in protecting Adani. He said that Modi, Jagan, Chandrababu and Pavan are putting the burden on the people of the state to help in this corruption. As part of that, he said that a new electricity distribution company named Rural Agriculture is being brought in to benefit Adani and protect Adani.
Baburao demanded a thorough investigation into the issue of Sai Krishna being illegally detained and beaten to death by the police in Vijayawada, and not a mere rhetoric. He said that no one has any objection to punishing the perpetrators of the crime. He demanded that an investigation be conducted according to the law, the evidence be proved and punishment be meted out. But he said that no one would be happy if the police and the government take the law into their own hands and protect the perpetrators of the crime and punish them like a court. He questioned whether justice would be served if the police were to investigate the police. He demanded that a high-level judicial inquiry be held. He said that he would ask the government to do this. He demanded that a high-level judicial inquiry be held on the allegations made against the police regarding Sai Krishna incident and Krantikumar's suicide.
